This 4-day national conference for the Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada (AWCBC) was held from June 27-30, 2010 at the Marriott Harbourfront Hotel in Halifax. The multi-faceted event showcased Maritime hospitality, culture and tradition at the Welcome reception, the Meredith Cup golf tournament at Glen Arbour Golf Course and the ‘Ultimate Kitchen Party’ at the Waterfront Warehouse.

A variety of entertainment was featured throughout the conference and off-site events, with live music from Good on Ya (Welcome reception), The Quinns and Lively Youth, and emcee Bill Carr, who provided humour throughout the conference as himself, William Meredith and the ‘Local Fisherman’.

At the Welcome reception, delegates were sworn into the Order of Good Times by Samuel de Champlain (Ray of Halifax actor), taking the ‘oath’ and having their picture taken afterwards. The Meredith Cup Tournament, held at Glen Arbour Golf Course in Hammonds Plains, provided great service to the golfers, with food carts on the course as well as at the end of the day, as well as presenting the coveted ‘Meredith Cup’ at the end. The Kitchen Party on Tuesday evening was perfect for hosting our out of town guests and showcasing the traditional Maritime theme. There was a lobster parade hosted by Bill Carr that added a new level of excitement to the evening. Delegates and guests certainly left feeling like this was more than just a business conference – it was a great networking and teambuilding opportunity as well.
