This unique variety show, in its 7th year with over $1 million raised for the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia, was held on Feb 12, 2010 at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax: 'A Different Stage of Mind' brings together community leaders to perform as famous entertainers and musical icons as the climax to their fundraising efforts.

These stars brought a true variety of talent to the stage, supported by Stage Director and Emcee Peter Harrison and Musical Director Steve Dooks and his rock and roll band. Guests were caught up in the moment, from their backstage grazing dinner at ‘TCL Studios’, to the ‘BMO Studio’ for the live taping, to the wrap party with the stars. The ‘backstage’ area was created with AV cases and cable stacked artistically, wardrobe racks full of costumes and some nostalgic lighting stands with ‘barn doors’, all adorned with the event logo. Cruiser tables around the room were set with fuchsia and green moiré and turquoise linens and tea lights.

The rock and roll band played as guests took their seats to enjoy the performances: Shannon MacDonald performing two medleys of ABBA songs; Mike Hachey and Shawn King performing as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers; Dr. Howard Conter and his son performing as the Blues Brothers; Tom Ruth playing up his resemblance to Roy Orbison; and Dennis Campbell performing as Angus Sou'wester.

The ‘grand-finale’ brought all the stars back on stage, together with emcee Peter Harrison, Mary Lou Crowley and Mike Bonner, to announce the winner of the fundraising contest, along with the coveted ‘People’s Choice Award’ for best show of the evening. The stars, along with the ‘studio’ audience, were then invited to kick off the dance party!
