The 2010 Taste of Gold event was a premiere local fundraising event that highlighted the Canada Games as an important sporting event bridging the gap between young and elite athletes, truly connecting the “Playground to Podium.” Guests enjoyed an exciting and high calibre event that captured the spirit of excellence and competition that carries a child from pastime to amateur to professional athlete.

This three-stage journey was reflected throughout the evening, to remind guests that the pinnacle of the journey is to reach the podium, with the event divided into three parts (Grazing Dinner, Transition & Entertainment) and the décor based on a three-part colour wave of red, purple and blue, highlighted with the three medal colours of bronze, silver and gold.

Not forgetting the fundraising aspect of the evening, veteran auctioneer Gord McComb of Auction City helped raise money for the cause as well as provided guests with the adrenaline rush that comes with being part of an exciting event. The success of the evening was reflected in fundraising tally, and in the ‘buzz’ that was created by supporting athletes from childhood, through their development phases, and all the way to medal contention.
