The 2nd edition of "Taste of Gold", presented by Doctors Nova Scotia, took place on November 10, 2009 and raised approximately $50K for amateur and elite sport programs across Nova Scotia. The Taste of Gold program included athlete visits to local schools, and an evening event at which guests found themselves feeling like fans attending a large sporting event, touring 'tailgate' food stations and then sitting down to watch 'the game'. Guests also had the opportunity to mingle with Olympic and Paralympic athletes, bid on exciting auction packages and take in local entertainment.

With inspiration from the Vancouver Olympics and the fast-approaching Canada Games, athletes continue to be excited about the opportunities to showcase their talent. Elite athletes and coaches form one of two groups being supported through the Taste of Gold event. Offsetting competition and training expenses is essential to ensure they can focus on realizing their dreams. For the second group, Taste of Gold creates opportuniites for more children to take part in sport by supporting Sport Nova Scotia's KidSport™ program.

The Taste of Gold program impacts every level of the provincial sporting system, and organizers take great pride in the efforts being made by local community leaders to make the event a growing success. The 3rd installment of Taste of Gold event will happen on November 16, 2010. To reserve your ticket, or for more information please email tasteofgold@zed.ca
